  • Dead-simple to set up remote access and file sharing; includes support for Gigabit Ethernet; bundled backup software lets you restore as well; generous warranty period.
  • Slow read/write speeds; no print server or media server; some file types not supported by MioNet for sharing.
  • The Western Digital MyBook World Edition is a simple-to-use NAS drive that makes remote access and file sharing easy for even beginners. Only its slow data transfer speed gives us pause.

  • Web access requires Java download and install; mediocre write times; single drive means one point of failure
  • Local storage with an Internet twist makes the My Book external drive a good choice for hoarding, sharing, and backing up files. ...

  • Great HD playback capability, passively cooled, good media and server functionality, MioNet remote access
  • Small files have slower transfer speeds, no integrated print server, can’t easily replace or upgrade hard drive
  • The Western Digital MyBook World Edition is an easy to use, media-centric NAS device with the ability to play high-definition content without fault. Its server capabilities aren’t comprehensive, however. ...
