  • Abstract:  Typing at work on Microsoft's new 15-inch Surface Book 2, I can't shake the feeling that this thing's not for me. Don't get me wrong, it's a powerful laptop, it's beautiful, and the workspace its giant screen affords made me completely forget I wasn't se...

  • Abstract:  It is designed and built to do-it-all: a laptop you can use for office work and on the road, as a graphics, video or photo editing workstation, a sketch or notepad and even a games console.IntroductionIt's a powerful laptop that can turn its hand to p...

  • Incredibly versatile and powerful, Good battery life considering the power, Compact and portable
  • Pricey, Base model isn't worth considering
  • A great all-round laptop that offers up a unique set of features, but it is a pricey option if you don’t want to game...

  • Despite these slight niggles, there's no denying the Microsoft Surface Book 2 has unique appeal. It's a laptop that can be a tablet, a graphics pad and notepad, a workstation, portable workhorse and games console all in one compact package, and there's no...

  • The new Surface Book 2 adds a long list of worthy upgrades, from new CPUs and gamer-ready graphics cards to a bigger 15-inch version. Battery life and performance are both excellent
  • The two-in-one design still feels awkward at times, and for some users, the detachable screen may be superfluous. The most interesting new components are only available in very expensive configurations
  • The Surface Book 2 is a satisfying sequel, but like many sequels, it may be trying to broadly serve too many audiences...

  • Abstract:  Sign up for our daily newsletter Image 1 of 12 Microsoft has released the new Surface Book 2 in the UK today but IT Pro managed to get a peek at it two weeks ago at Microsoft's Future Decoded conference in London. We looked at Microsoft's latest additio...

  • Great keyboard and touchpad, Versatile, and light when used as a tablet, Sharp, high-contrast, pixel-dense touchscreen, Excellent performance in all areas, Unparalleled battery life
  • Display's color accuracy could be better, GTX 1060 held back by custom driver, Extremely expensive
  • Yes. There's a lot to love about the Book 2, and very little to complain about. The system aced many of our tests and was a joy to carry day-to-day. That latter part is important. While it's a powerful 2-in-1 built for serious work, but it's also fun off...

  • It has the same lengthening hinge as the original Surface Book this means it can remain lightweight and doesn't require extra weight in the base to stop it tipping over, as it's already balanced, The screen can be removed from the keyboard so it can be us
  • It's very expensive, Display suffers from fingerprint marks and some glare in bright light, No longer comes with the Surface Pen stylus as standard you may need to purchase this as an optional extra
  • The Microsoft Surface Book 2 provides pretty much all you could want from a laptop, with good looks, handy features and plenty of power, but it comes at a rather hefty price...

  • Great muscle-wire release system to separate laptop and screen into two parts for versatile use, Oodles on power on tap, Solid design
  • It's rather heavy, Big price tag, Combined battery life is less than quoted, A little top-heavy and upright, Screen lacks ultra-wide colour gamut
  • While we had the chance to manipulate some 3D models and enjoy the fluidity of the Surface Pen on these devices, we can't profess to have really had the chance to test their power or performance, or to have a good measure of the battery life. We don't dou...

  • The Surface Book 2, like its predecessor, is an impressive machine both inside and out (although we're still not sold on that reptilian hinge design). Its screen is a little sharper than the MacBook's, and the extra flexibility offered by the hybrid desig...
