  • 130 degree FOV is the highest we've seen on a mass-market headset, Valve's base stations provide rock solid tracking, Cabling is less intrusive than previous Vive models
  • Expensive, Base stations are an impediment to some, Speakers sound more natural than headphones, but you lose privacy
  • That about covers the Index headset. Be sure to check out our Index Controller review as well for a fuller picture of Valve's VR wager. In short: There's a lot of untapped potential, and you're essentially betting on whether developers will take advantage...

  • Adds a lot more capability to VR controls, Lots of potential for social interactions in VR, Analog sticks are more useful than the Vive's touchpads
  • Expensive, Limited software selection at release, Takes a lot of practice to grow accustomed
  • I'm certainly curious what happens in the future, as the tech is solid—thus, the score. But if you asked me whether you should buy Index Controllers right now? In June of 2019? I'd struggle to give you a good reason, especially if it's meant to replace ex...

  • Excellent image quality, Realistic presence, Incredibly comfortable headset, Finger-tracking controllers add a new level of immersion, Very stable motion and space tracking
  • Priced only for pros, Inconvenient wired connection, External sensors are a pain to set up
  • At the least, Valve is reminding us that there's still a place for high-end VR. The Oculus Quest might be cheaper and more convenient, but it'll always be limited by its mobile hardware. With the Index, the VR possibilities seem endless. In this article: f...

  • RGB subpixel array eliminates screen-door effect, Wider FOV than comparable headsets, Excellent audio quality, Customizable, Very soft cushion, Sturdy construction,
  • Very heavy, Less comfortable than the HTC Vive Pro, Cushions are glued on, Expensive
  • The Valve Index headset offers excellent visuals, best-in-class tracking and top-quality build, and its Index controllers are unquestionably the best solution for interacting with virtual worlds...

  • The best VR controllers around, High-fidelity visuals, Room-scale tracking is superb
  • Setup is a hassle, Extremely expensive, Needs base stations
  • The Valve Index sets a new high bar for VR quality, but this is purely for the hobbyists and most intrepid virtual explorers. While Facebook is moving the needle with affordability and accessibility, Valve is pushing VR forward by upping the fidelity. How...
