  • Tight, terrific gunplay intensified by bullet time and hardhitting violence, Great writing, voice acting, and cutscene presentation, Detailed environments that get destroyed in spectacular fashion, Impactful sound design, Fun, chaotic multiplayer.
  • Max's shootdodge maneuver is sometimes frustratingly ineffective.
  • Carolyn slows down time to fire a bullet through the beating heart of Max Payne 3 in this review....

  • Spectacular characterisation and narrative pacing. Physics, animations and gunplay are grounded in authenticity and feel substantial. Multiplayer and arcade mode add longevity.
  • Occasionally bound by genre tropes. Very occasionally overplays presentation effects.

  • The graphic violence of Max Payne 3 won't be to everyone's taste, but the game is stylishly presented and will definitely appeal to Tarantino admirers and fans of TV programs like The Sopranos. The multiplayer modes are fun too, and will keep you playing...

  • Given the fact that Max Payne was born into this world as a bundle of clichés tied to a mechanic that started to become dated the moment the first game was released, Max Payne 3 could have been a train wreck. Instead, it's a sharp, gritty and stylish shoo...
