  • With a nice set of features for home-movie-type shooters and pleasing video quality, the Canon Vixia HF M400 series has lots to like
  • A small, coarse LCD that's hard to view in direct sunlight and touch-screen-impaired menu system hamper an otherwise solid design
  • A fine follow-up to last year's M3xx series, the Canon Vixia M4xx series should please most home-movie-oriented videographers despite its relatively high price. If you don't need the EVF, the M400 is your best buy, but if you'll be shooting a lot in s...

  • Dedicated HD camcorders like the HF M40 are getting squeezed between the increasingly acceptable video capabilities of smartphones and the fussy-but-pretty video performance of DSLRs. But today there's still a good-sized niche for moderately priced HD ...

  • 32GB of builtin storage plus two SD card slots, Good picture quality, Effective image stabiliser, External microphone socket
  • Limited photo capabilities, Viewfinder is awkward to use, Autofocus seems slow to adapt in some situations
  • Commendable performance and plenty of storage space make the Canon Legria HF M41 camcorder one to consider for advanced users. But competition is tough at this price point and there could be more attractive options available, depending on your requirem...

  • Good quality video, comfortable to hold, easy to use, creative features
  • Pricey, viewfinder too small to be useful, slightly bulky design
  • An excellent camcorder offering great video quality, but a little on the pricey side...

  • Using this camera, you feel like a budding Spielberg. The quality of build and feature set is extraordinary and everything works really well. The optical image stabilisation is the best we have seen from any of our recent camera reviews – video feels like it is being filmed on a tripod rather then in hand. The menu system is extensive and easily laid out, and through the touchscreen everything is
  • The issues we have found with the Canon Legria HFM41 are minimal, however this is not a perfect camera. Canon have included a viewfinder on the back, which emulates a feature found on higher level pro camcorders. Sadly this viewfinder hosts a tiny low quality LCD screen that makes usage near impossible. The battery bay is sized for a large battery, but the included one only fills half the space,
  • At a shade under £800, this camera is not to be purchased on a whim, however the multitude of features and manual control settings really set this camcorder apart from the competition. If you are a budding filmmaker or want something more from your hom...

  • It is true that the Canon Legria HF M41 is not the best camcorder around and yet it doesn't fail to woo the masses. The device is known for its performance rather than its features and this has helped it make a name for itself in this short span of time. ...
