  • Abstract:  A compact digital camera with its very own built-in projector, the Nikon S1100PJ ($299.95 list) offers a 14 megapixel image through its CCD image sensor, a 5x optical zoom Nikkor lens and more. The camera is controlled through a 3-inch touchscreen LCD,...

  • The Nikon Coolpix S1100pj is all about its projector. Given the fact that this camera is as ultra-compact as many of its peers without a projector, this is an achievement in itself. The projector works well and can project an image up to 47" diagonall...

  • The S1100pj is the second digital camera with an integrated projector from Nikon and is a more refined version of last year's model, adding a brighter projector with a built-in stand, touch-screen interface and 720p HD movies. The continued lack of co...

  • Nikon has pioneered something incredibly exciting, and the Nikon Coolpix S1100pj will certainly win over a sizable amount of consumers who want that camera with the projector in it. Not only can we host slideshows for a room full of people, but we can...

  • Builtin projector is a very interesting option and works well, Camera design looks great with unique color options, Touch screen LCD is sharp and bright, even in sunlight, and includes shutter control, Camera exposure is really accurate most of the time, Camera is very easy to use, thanks to various scene modes, "smart" auto mode, and touch screen LCD
  • Image quality is only average to slightly above average, If you don't need the projector feature, price is a little high, It would be nice to have the option of a directional button for working through menus, You may notice some focus or camera shake problems in low light on occasion

  • Abstract:  The one time that almost all of us have a camera within easy reach is when we are travelling. A lot of us actually put off buying a camera until just before the big trip, to make sure we are getting the latest and greatest for the time that we need it ...

  • Like: The projector function is certainly a Wow! thing, but after the Wow! comes the “what's it for”? The movie mode is good, so it could be useful in a presentation where instant record and playback to a group is the requirement of the day.
  • Dislike: The resistive touch screen is awful. Smart phones, such as the best Android and iPhone devices, use capacitive screens – the lightest brush of a finger fires the action. Resistive screens react to pressure, and this screen needs a lot of pressure

  • Built-in projector that's bright and reasonably useful for casual photo, laptop presentations. Decent still images
  • Touchscreen can be temperamental. Projector to PC implementation is not plug-and-play
  • The S1100pj isn't competent enough or bright enough to win fans in the boardroom, but casual photographers looking for a bit of novelty value won't be disappointed....

  • Reasonably clear picture quality, good high ISO performance, built-in projector will wow your friends
  • Built-in projector will drain the battery quickly, touchscreen is awkward to use, noticeable chromatic aberration, lens position is awkward
  • It may not be the most practical digital camera, but if you're a gadget nut then Nikon's COOLPIX S1100pj is almost a must-have item. It's not without its drawbacks, but it'll definitely make your friends 'ooh' and 'ahh' when you use the integrated project...
