  • Abstract:  Panasonic has managed to take an already good shooter, the Lumix G5, and make it even better with the release of the G6.Tech Guide readers might remember I enjoyed shooting with the G5 around Terrigal late in 2012 and that I was suitably impressed. The G6 ...

  • Viewfinder, Fully articulating screen, Extensive touchscreen controls, Can shoot raw files with filters
  • Old 16MP sensor, Can't use Creative Control options in advanced exposure modes
  • The Panasonic G6 feels like the most complete and well-rounded enthusiast-level Panasonic compact system camera to date. It may lack a few of the features and the rugged build of the Panasonic GH3, but it's also significantly smaller, making it a more at...

  • The improved swivelling touchscreen and viewfinder are excellent, the autofocus is superquick and the creative filters give some real zing to your shots.
  • There's so many different menus to access that it's not always easy to find the settings that you're looking for
  • This camera is a lot of fun. It's got all the serious enthusiast-level settings to play with but wrapped up into a machine that anyone can pick up and enjoy. Buy it....

  • Excellent responsiveness, Swivel touchscreen, touchcontrols used to their full potential, OLED viewfinder is nicer to use, Manually adjustable settings in video mode (ISO, exposure, aperture, focus area), Microphone socket
  • Disappointing battery life (barely 200 photos), Image quality hasn't really progressed, Video quality has dropped a little (and the 1080p 60 fps mode has gone), Smoothing is still a bit too heavy

  • Well saturated colours and warm feel to image, tilt and swivel rear LC, DSLRstyle handling yet compact camera approachabilit, EVF comes with builtin eye sensor for automatic activation
  • Chunkier than most competitors who haven’t opted for the DSLR apeing desig, feels slightly overpriced on launch

  • Fast autofocus, touchscreen is super-responsive, decent image quality, detailed OLED electronic viewfinder, body-based zoom toggle to control power zoom lenses
  • Continuous autofocus still not quite there, no image quality improvement compared to predecessor, chunkier build/size won't suit all, no ISO 100 sensitivity
  • We'd argue that the Lumix G6 is not only a step closer in closing the gap between DSLR and CSC cameras' capabilities, but that - in some respects - it's a step beyond. When it comes to value for money and feature set the G6 is more packed with featu...

  • Although nothing revolutionary, the G6 fits the bill for anyone wanting compact camera convenience but DSLR-style design

  • In some areas, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G6 is a big step forward, such as the new viewfinder, touchscreen and Wi-Fi support, especially for remote shooting with a smartphone or tablet. However, its basic picture-taking capabilities are similar to its older...

  • This camera represents an evolutionary dead-end. Even though Panasonic's done a fine job making the G6 a great update of a camera we already thought was pretty decent, the tired 16-megapixel sensor at its heart just isn't all that great any more. Compared...
