  • The Pentax K-3 leaps forwards as the first Ricoh DSLR, bring a unique Anti-Alias Filter Simulator and Time-Lapse video up to Ultra HD (4K). This, together with a new 24 megapixels APS-C CMOS sensor and 27-point SAFOX XI autofocus engine with 25 cross-type...

  • Weatherproof body, 100% viewfinder, Universal DNG raw format
  • Chromatic aberration issues, LCD screen fixed, Tends to underexpose
  • Since the biggest selling point of this camera is its weatherproofing credentials, it makes sense to buy it with the 18-135mm WR (weather resistant) lens, otherwise it's only the body that can withstand water. This makes it a little more expensive than i...

  • In the current marketplace, where sales of DSLR cameras are declining, the K-3 provides a welcome combination of innovative technology, excellent performance and a competitive price tag. Photographers looking for a new camera body on which to base a syste...

  • Superb weatherproof build, Incredibly detailed pictures, Built-in stabilisation, Dual SD card slots
  • Average video skills, Lacks flip-out screen, No Wi-Fi
  • VERDICT Open Gallery The Pentax K-3 is a serious camera that takes seriously good stills. It's packed with features to make your life easier, such as dual SD card slots, weatherproofing and in-body stabilisation and handles as well as any camera ...

  • Abstract:  This is a weighty and powerful DSLR unit. I was sent the body and a 18-135mm lens. It went on my various journeys for several weeks, so not only did I get my normal range of test shots but some interesting Landscape offerings....

  • The stills really deliver, the weathersealing is seriously handy and it's easy to set the K3 up the way you want it to shoot.
  • Video capture is quite poor, there's no touchor variangle screen and it could be a little more userfriendly
  • The K-3 is a really good camera that takes really good pictures but the Canon 70D is a more complete device....

  • Price, rugged build quality, controls and menus are very well thought-out, stills performance is excellent
  • Grain at middling sensitivities, noise on video soundtrack caused by lens mechanics, smaller lens arsenal than competition
  • Pentax's years of experience shine through in the K-3's well thought-out construction, which puts all of your most commonly used controls in convenient, easy to find locations. The innovation and user choice behind features such as advanced anti-moi...

  • Excellent 24MP image quality, Extremely responsive, fast burst, Anti-aliasing simulator, Rugged and weather sealed
  • Bulky, expensive – but to be expected, Built-in mono mic, No built-in Wi-Fi/NFC connectivity
  • The Pentax K-3 is an Editor's Choice winner – it's really a top-notch 2014 enthusiast DSLR – even with the negatives detailed. If you're in the market for a Canon EOS 70D or a Nikon D7100, give this outfit a very close look. The K-3 is generating a lot ...

  • Solid feel, pro grade body, switch on or off anti aliasing filter, in-body image stabilisation
  • Like the Nikon D610, there’s no Wi-Fi connectivity built into the actual camera body, squarish, blocky body design won’t be to all tastes
  • Providing excellent rendition of colours and sharp images with it, which has been as consistent a feature with Pentax as we could have hoped for, the camera comes in black for a suggested £1099.99 for the body only or as a limited edition silver version f...
