  • Very comfortable, fully weatherized camera build, excellent image quality even in low light at up to ISO 6400, optical viewfinder has 100 percent field of view coverage making it easy to compose images
  • Some performance issues from early firmware, default setting is to slightly oversaturated JPEG images, skin tones have slightly reddish hue in default settings
  • It's great to see Pentax, which has become sort of an underdog rival to Canon's and Nikon's DSLRs, continue to produce compelling, well-made cameras that take great pictures. While the Pentax K-30 is designed more for photo enthusiasts and prosumers than ...

  • Large pentaprism viewfinder. Weather-sealed body. 5.2fps burst shooting. Excellent control layout. Very customizable. Sharp kit lens. In-body shake reduction. Very good high ISO performance.
  • Fixed rear LCD. No mic input. Slow to focus when recording video. Standard kit lens is not weather sealed
  • The Pentax K-30 is weather sealed D-SLR with a large pentaprism viewfinder. It shoots at 5.2 frames per second, does well in low light, and ships with a sharp kit lens....

  • Good detail at low sensitivities (even better in RAW), Very good high ISO image quality, good detail up to high sensitivities, Exceptionally low shadow noise in RAW files at low ISOs, Responsive operation, 6 fps and good burst size in continuous shooting, Good build-quality with weather-sealed body, Thought-out user interface with useful TAv and SV modes, Large, bright viewfinder with 100% cove
  • Lower JPEG highlight DR than competitors (without Highlight Correction activated), Live view exposure simulation has very limited range, No external mic-socket, No dedicated video button, No stills capture in video mode, Focus-peaking not available in video mode, No HDMI port, Poor battery life compared to its peers,
  • We really liked the Pentax K-5 when we reviewed the camera in December 2010 and the K-30 comes with a sensor and imaging pipeline that are very similar to its bigger brother's and many of its features - at a considerably more attractive price point. H...

  • We've said it before and we will no doubt say it again Pentax DSLRs are designed by photographers, not marketing departments. The lovely K-5 competes with cameras that cost hundreds of dollars more and now the K-30 stands above its price level. There is...
