Abstract: Forum Login Introduction The Sony Cybershot RX1 meets the definition of the word unique. It is a 24 Megapixel full-frame camera that comfortably fits in a coat pocket and which features an integrated 35mm f/2 silent leaf shutter Carl Zeiss lens. It ...
AF can hunt and misfocus, some lens distortion, battery life, aliasing effects (jaggies) with strongly defined details, ease with which exposure compensation dial may be turned accidentally
The RX1 is, for many reasons, a remarkable camera, and one which has been very difficult to score on account of it not having any obvious immediate rivals. While it's certainly true that it's expensive, it'd be difficult to find a full-frame DSLR and ...
Abstract: While “hands-on” might be a bit of a stretch for this article, I wanted to pass along my thoughts from actually putting my hands on the Sony RX1 at PhotoPlus 2012 today – even though the camera didn’t have a battery in it because Sony didn’t want to sh...
Excellent image quality in both JPEG and Raw, Full frame in a compact, well-built body, Dedicated aperture and exposure compensation controls, Exceptional build-quality - solid feeling without being too heavy, Superb high ISO output in both JPEG and Raw images, Essentially silent operation, Wide dynamic range Raw files, Pleasing metering and white balance results, Good level of customization to
Autofocus speed not quick enough for fast-moving subjects, Autofocus struggles in low light, Significant vignetting, with any correction baked into Raw files, Multiple button presses required to move AF point, No built-in viewfinder (and accessory options rather expensive), No focus guides for video shooters, Disappointing video quality even when in focus, Focus peaking in un-magnified live vie

Abstract: Forget the three grand price tag for a moment and just think about how appealing is the idea of a digital compact camera with a 35mm-sized sensor. Suddenly, the ‘sticker shock' isn't quite so severe. Report by Paul Burrows. If evidence was actually nee...

The lens is as sharp as we would expect from an optic bearing the Zeiss branding. High ISO performance is excellent and image quality is very good indeed.
The autofocus is surprisingly slow, although accurate enough. Auto white balance is easily fooled. And the lens, generally good, shows marked barrel distortion
This is a very expensive camera. For this sort of money you can buy a full frame DSLR body, such as the new Sony a99. And strong competition for this camera comes from Sony's own NEX-7, a mirrorless system camera for less than half the price. It isn't ful...

Brilliant 24-megapixel sensor, Control scheme is simple, versatile, Amazingly small size
High price tag, Imperfect autofocus, Expensive accessories
Sony's attempt at a fixed-lens, compact-style camera in the RX1 is an excellent one. It's well on the way to being one of the best cameras we've tested in terms of image quality, and has a control scheme that's easy to understand and use manually. While t...
