  • AMD back in the big league, Competitively priced, Runs cool under load, Very quiet, Innovative HBM memory, Looks the business
  • Not quite as fast as GTX 980 Ti, 4GB may prove a hurdle at 4K, No overclocking on memory, No HDMI 2.0
  • AMD and Nvidia have taken contrasting approaches for designing premium graphics cards in mid-2015. Hampered by the problems associated with 20nm manufacturing, which was supposed to be prevalent by now, both companies have had to rework architectures for...

  • AMD's fans wanted to see an ultra-high-end powerhouse capable of creaming GeForce GTX 980 Ti. Its detractors assumed a series of delays meant it'd be too hot and slow. In reality, neither group can claim clairvoyance.Instead, the Radeon R9 Fury X delivers...

  • Compact, attractive, Stock liquid cooling, Competitive performance-per-watt
  • Liquid cooler's radiator is unwieldy, Doesn't beat the GTX 980 Ti
  • So, here's the moment of truth. Should you buy the Radeon R9 Fury X instead of the GTX 980 Ti? Probably not. The Fury X is an impressive card. Were it alone in its bracket, or priced slightly differently, it'd be easy to recommend. At $649, though, it...

  • The implementation of HBM appears to change the way a card scales upwards with resolution increases. Typically, if a card was similar to a GTX 980 at 1080p, it would also be very similar at 4K. What we see here, however, is the Fury X performing close to...

  • So there you have it: Between the new Fiji GPU and the inclusion of HBM, AMD's Radeon R9 Fury X enters the rarefied air of single-GPU cards capable enough to play games at 4K resolutions with high graphics detail settings enabled--an exclusive club contai...

  • Liquid cooling loop means card runs very cool, Quiet operation, Frontplate can be removed and customized, Slightly more affordable than NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti
  • Performance still trails NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti, Compact card, but installing the radiator needs some consideration
  • If not for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti, the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X would be far easier to recommend.AMD needs a win with the Radeon R9 Fury X. No company wants to always be seen as the budget and value-for-money option, and the Fury X is supposed to be AM...
