  • Abstract:  This latest Rugged portable drive from LaCie packs a whopping 500GB of space, a big step up from the previous limit of 320GB. Better still, this triple-interface unit, which boasts FireWire 400 and 800, and USB 2, costs only £50 more than the bog-stand...

  • Highly portable; triple data interface including FireWire 800; rubberised sheath to take the knocks; no PSU required; bundled backup utilities and cables

  • The LaCie Rugged is a convenient backup device and its FireWire 800 connectivity is welcome. The unit is light, although the aluminium casing could be dented if knocked. As for the eye-watering colour of its rubber sheath, your aesthetic sensibilities...

  • You either like LaCie's Rugged colour scheme or you don't. Yes, it's cool, but even Mac users may prefer something a little more soberly styled and cheaper. The Rugged costs more than rival products, but the difference isn't so great to make it a deal...

  • Solid performance, Rugged and stylish, USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800, Comes with all cables.
  • No activity indicator LED, No power or backup button, Very expensive.
  • The LaCie Rugged All-Terrain Hard Drive is not only just about as rugged as the name suggests but is also a solid performer with the USB as well as FireWire interface. In fact it is the one of the fastest overall performer we have seen thus far. The F...
