Like most of Synology's offerings, the DS415+ is what we would consider a prosumer product. It is sleek, performs very well and caters to both small business and consumers who want above average performance. The DS415+ showed improvements over the DS41...
It is expected that most users would configure the Synology DS415+ in RAID-5 for optimal balance of redundancy and capacity. Hence, we performed all our expansion / rebuild testing as well as power consumption evaluation with the unit configured in RAID-5...
Great overall performance, Minimal effect of encryption on performance, Upgraded RAM and CPU
Weaker 8k sequential iSCSI performance than QNAP TS-451
With upgraded RAM and processor (as well as a slew of other new features), the DS415+ proves to be a good step up from Synology's previous model mainline 4-bay SOHO NAS.Discuss This ReviewSynology HubSynology DS415+ at AmazonGA_googleFillSlot("sr_article_...
Synology hasn't really gone out on a limb with the DiskStation DS415+, for the most part it's a refined version of the more than 2 year old DS412+. That isn't necessarily a bad thing and constant refinement is what Synology does best.By taking their tried...
The Synology DS415+ as seen in our testing is a solid performing NAS appliance in all RAID configurations. This is largely due to its underlying Rangeley platform from Intel and also the NAS operating system (DSM). As with many NAS appliances, the heart...

Without the bells and whistles offered by some of the competing products in this price range we think the DS415is a bit overpriced.
The DS415+ gives users solid storage performance but lacks many of the new features found on competitor's products. Synology does offer systems with the bells and whistles, this one just has a tighter focus on its storage...

Abstract: Synology has just about perfected the NAS solution for small businesses and ‘prosumers'. Its DiskStation 412+ range was hailed as being one of the best examples of a NAS unit around for the pro user and business workgroup. It's since stepped up a gear, th...
With the DS415+, Synology has brought a new NAS onto the market based on Intel's Avoton quad-core processor. The device's performance is great, and the included DSM firmware offers a great deal of functionality. All this makes the DS415+ a very interes...
Fastest mid-range NAS yet, Slick, intuive setup and user interface, Compact, tough form factor, Quiet
More expensive than rivals, Only USB 2.0 on front facing port
The DS415+ is a stylish, quiet and intuitive NAS that is very fast, especially using encryption. It's only rival is the DS414 which can do everything almost as well for £100 less but lacks its dedicated encryption hardware. So if security is a key focus, ...
