  • Abstract:  So far SSD drives are coming out from manufacturers who are active in the memory business- Corsair, Samsung, OCZ, Kingston Toshiba. Things became lil' more exciting when Intel stepped in the game. And then comes Western Digital. Unlike other drives, WD is ...

  • Very impressive read speeds, Nice gunmetal casing, Quality built, 3-year warranty
  • Write speeds were a concern
  • I’m sure you and almost everyone you know has a favorite hard drive manufacturer and when they are building a new system they will ONLY use those types of drives. Honestly I am more or less the same way. As I said in the introduction of this review w...

  • Abstract:  The WD SiliconEdge Blue 64GB, Kingston SSDNow V G2 64GB, OCZ Vertex 2 60GB, and Intel X25-V 40GB offer small capacities but big speed compared to most hard drives. One model ultimately rose to the top, both in real world performance and energy efficiency.

  • Abstract:  Last year we spoke to WD representatives at the IFA fair and they told us that they weren’t in too much of a hurry as far as entering the SSD market is concerned. They also underlined that they have all the required technology to manufacture them, but ...

  • Fast performance that remains consistent over time,
  • Expensive, Low capacity compared to standard hard drives
  • SSDs offer a significant performance increase over standard rotating drives, but at price out of reach of most consumers. Until prices come down and capacities go up, they will continue to be niche products meant only for enterprise servers and the mo...

  • We’ll do some summarizing now, starting from the Intel X25-V. Cutting it short, we like this product. Intel has come up with an affordable but rather fast SSD. It was especially good in our RAID0 array, providing both a large storage capacity and a hig...

  • Western Digital’s first consumer SSD performed well in our testing. Not only did it perform well but I also found the silver drive casing to be the best looking that we have currently tested. When putting together the Cost Pre GB chart I was surprised ...
