  • Solid construction, Mechanical keyboard with media and macro keys, Versatile software suite
  • Split space bar, Macro key placement may result in accidental key presses, Software has some intuitive issues
  • One thing became very apparent with this keyboard quite early on while testing – it's not meant for typing. CHERRY MX red keys, with their very sensitive nature, means that sloppy typing habits tend to get punished; on the other hand, they are very usef...

  • Real Cherry MX switches, Built Tonka tough, Lots of extra keys
  • Slight wiggle to each key
  • You can't beat this mechanical keyboard when it comes to value for money.

  • The aspect that images really did not help with has to be the lighting. At stock, the 700K comes with the ability to run without LEDs, and the first option is to use the keyboard with the LEDS moving in an EQ-like pattern. The next option has the keyboar...

  • Groovy orange backlighting that is fun when "idle", Good grippy feet for glass (and all) desk surfaces, Four switch options for your style of use – blue, brown, red, and black
  • The split space bar – I don't want to talk about it anymore, It's a little up there in cost; but not a bad upgrade price from 600K
  • I would try to phrase this in a nice way, but that just isn't me. I hated this keyboard on day one, day two, and heck, maybe even still at the end of all this. Unfortunately, it's only for one reason – the damn split space bar. Who the hell thought this w...

  • Absolutely packed with features, Great build quality, Excellent typing performance, Split spacebar is great for gaming
  • Styling is an acquired taste, Split spacebar is slightly awkward for typing, US layout only so not ideal for UK or elsewhere
  • If you can live with the fact it's only available in a US layout the Cougar 700K is a surprisingly high quality mechanical gaming keyboard. It's also packed with features and we're particularly impressed with the split spacebar design...

  • Excellent software utility, Choice of Cherry MX switches, Configurable backlighting, Dedicated macro keys
  • Build quality is not up to the same standard as Corsair's leading products.
  • It is clear that a lot of time has been invested into developing the Cougar 700K Keyboard so that it can compete with the most capable models already on the market. In terms of build quality, the main keyboard is commendable. The use of brushed aluminium i...

  • Great build quality, Brushed aluminium chassis, Choice of Cherry MX switches, G-keys and split space bar G-key, Built-in multimedia controls, On-the-fly recording, LED backlighting, USB and Audio pass through
  • Odd mixture of switch types on multimedia keys, Plastic clip mount for wrist rest,
  • PriceThe Cougar 700K is a high-end mechanical gaming keyboard, as such it commands a premium price tag and you won't get much change from £100 from most major retailers. This is expensive, but it's about on par with rival offerings in terms of features fo...

  • Aesthetically pleasing, Aluminium structure, Perkey lighting, Easy to use software suite, Plenty of customisation, Full NKRO, Onthefly buttons – Brightness, Disable Windows Key, Independent multimedia buttons, Detachable wrist rest and rubber pad
  • Single windows key on right, LED shade cannot be changed
  • 700K isn't COUGAR's first attempt at designing a keyboard but previous products in the portfolio have struggled to gain any limelight but we can totally understand why this new offering changes things somewhat. With striking looks and a sturdy aluminium st...
