  • Abstract:  It's been a long, slow slog for the engineers developing Wi-Fi 6 chipsets and products. I've been in the thick of it, trying to develop Wi-Fi 6 test methods that can show whether these draft-standard products deliver on the benefits they promise. That eff...

  • Geeky design (if you're into that) that can be mounted to a wall, Fast performance across the board, Supports Wi-Fi 6 features, Has link aggregation, Speedy file transfer performance via USB
  • Not fully compatible with some older Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) adapters, Limited QoS controls, Expensive, Not many devices fully support Wi-Fi 6 features (yet)

  • As I said at the start, this is not the definitive word on the performance of the two first-to-market Broadcom-based draft Wi-Fi 6 routers. Since they are both based on the same key Broadcom devices, I'd expect any significant performance differences I've...

  • Abstract:  If you're considering replacing your current Wi-Fi router there are a lot of options available. Two options we've been testing recently are the D-link DIR-2680 D-Fend and the Netgear Nighthawk AX8.While both are priced at the premium end of the market...

  • Abstract:  You can pay an awful lot for a Wi-Fi 6 router. Premium models nudge close to £400 and mesh systems can cost even more. So while the £280 Nighthawk RAX80 is expensive, it's not outlandishly so for a high-end Wi-Fi 6 solution. And for the money, you get s...

  • Very fast, Ready for new devices with Wi-Fi 6, Neat interface and management app,
  • Quite expensive, No parental controls,
  • A powerful Wi-Fi 6 router, the Netgear Nighthawk AX8 delivers some of the fastest throughputs we've seen, even when using older Wi-Fi 5 devices. The only real issue is the price, with this router significantly more expensive than existing Wi-Fi routers. N...

  • Excellent performance over 802.11ac, 4x4 MU-MIMO, Good physical connections
  • Not quite as fast as the competition, Unambitious feature set, Only dual-band
  • If you're considering buying an 802.11ax router at this point in time, that implies that you're willing to pay a premium to get the very fastest performance. If that's so, the Nighthawk AX8 is a tempting proposition but the Asus RT-AX88U delivers even bet...
