$199 is hard to beat. Chrome OS works well for what it does. Excellent connectivity and decent performance
Build quality is lacking and battery life is on the low side. OS ecosystem is very limiting. Even at this price, we feel the competition has more rounded options

Dirt cheap at $199. Relatively enormous 320GB hard drive. Full selection of ports, including Ethernet and VGA. Swappable battery. Keyboard blends traditional and Chrome layouts.
Clunky design. Short battery life. Chrome OS is limited. No 3G option
The Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2847) isn't the slickest laptop out there, but it runs Chrome OS, has a roomy hard drive and a full selection of ports, and sells for a song. We'll overlook a lot for its $200 price tag....
There are more ports on this device than other Chromebooks. You will also get vastly more storage with the 320GB hard drive and 100GB of cloud storage
The battery life is low and the startup time is slow. The design is more bland and thicker than what you would expect with Chromebooks
The Acer C7 Chromebook has a 320GB hard drive, which is hundreds more than other Chromebooks have. This, on top of the 100GB of free cloud storage, will give you a sufficient amount of space to store your files. There are plenty of places to connect your...

$199. $199, Performs better than Samsung's more expensive ARM-based counterpart, Plenty of ports, Great for tinkerers or hobbyists
Thick and heavy relative to other Chromebooks and Ultrabooks, Four-hour-or-less battery life is low by today's standards, Tiny arrow keys are easy to miss and hard to get used to, All-plastic construction is reasonably sturdy but not very attractive, Chro
Enlarge / The C7's lid.Andrew CunninghamChrome OS is still a bit of a tough sell, but the C7 and the ARM Chromebook are both cheap enough to finally make it palatable. Neither is an especially high-quality laptop, but at these price points they're a signi...

Low price, Good port selection, 320GB hard drive plus 100GB of cloud storage
Very short battery life, Bland and relatively thick design
Acer's Chromebook delivers Chrome OS for a rock-bottom price, but it's sunk by short battery life and a thicker and heavier design than the competition.
Good keyboard and touchpad, Attractive display, Snappy performance, Amazing value
Quiet, lackluster speakers, Poor battery life
Acer's C7 Chromebook is a stunning value. The only major sacrifice a buyer has to make is accepting the Chrome OS, which is becoming easier over time. Chrome OS is now capable of performing all the basic tasks the average user requires and many apps can...
A year ago it was tough to recommend buying a Chromebook. With prices starting at $450, it was hard to explain why you’d buy a laptop that only runs a web browser when you could spend the same amount or less on a notebook with a more versatile operatin...

The Acer C7 Chromebook is the most recent addition to the Chromebook universe and one of Google’s chosen few to be featured on their very own Chomebook portal. This device sits aside the Samsung Series 3 Chromebook as one of three (the other being a sl...
Shockingly low price, Plenty of ports, 100GB of free Google Drive cloud storage for two years, Competent screen and keyboard
Netbooky design, Disappointing battery life, USB 2.0, not 3.0
At $199, Acer and Google's newest Chromebook is practically an impulse buy—if not a must-buy—for anyone considering a 7-inch tablet but hoping to do productivity work instead of mere content consumption on the Web. ...

The Acer C7 Chromebook's very affordable price is its best asset, plus it's got plenty of ports and a large hard drive. It boots up quickly and is simple to use
Saddled with an ugly design, finicky touch pad, and short battery life, this feels like a far cry even from most budget laptops. The Chrome OS is still too limiting, though it's made some strides in a year
At $199, the Acer C7 is an attractive proposition for anyone looking for a supercheap portable laptop, but the Chrome OS and short battery life mean you'll have to accept a lot of compromises.
