  • Abstract:  Introduction Note: Be sure to check out the two slideshows for this computer. The first is a tour of the M5550i outside and in; the second shows how well the notebook performed in a variety of business and graphics tests. Alienware is not a notebook v...

  • Alienware S-4 m5550The Alienware S-4 m5550 could be well called notebook of records. Most of the time in a positive sense, but not always. One of the notebook's advantages is obviously its outstanding performance, as a result of an excellent CPU and a hig...

  • High-quality 15.4-inch widescreen display, Top-shelf Intel processor and excellent 3D performance, Includes DVI and S/PDIF ports, Eye-catching design
  • High price, Poor battery life, Lacks several key multimedia features, Very little software included

  • Attractive design; great application performance, thanks to top-of-the-line Core 2 Duo mobile chip and Nvidia graphics; bright display; touch pad on/off button.
  • Lousy battery life; mediocre gaming performance; slightly compact keyboard; screen is very reflective.
  • The Core 2 Duo-based Alienware Area-51 m5550 can perform as well as larger, more expensive gaming systems, but its short battery life means you wont be very mobile.

  • Phenomenal performer, Very thin and light for a 15.4", Great audio; crystal clear headphone jack, Show stopping design, Feelgood keyboard, Quiet optical drive, DVID, Not just another mainstream notebook
  • Abysmal battery life, Runs warm, Needs another USB port, Fan could be quieter, LCD needs better viewing angles, Needs higherresolution screen option
  • The Alienware Area-51 m5550 is one of the few notebooks I have tested that I feel delivers an outstanding ownership experience. Granted, it does have its flaws -- poor battery life, a warm operating temperature, and average viewing angles, but no produ...

  • Blazingly fast speeds. Chart-topping benchmark test scores. Over 20 percent faster than other systems on video-encoding tests. Sci-fi design.
  • Heat issues. Poor battery life. Pricey.
  • Aside from its heat issues, this Alienware notebook is definitely cool, with blazingly fast performance—thanks to its Core 2 Duo mobile processor—and a design thats out of this world....

  • Dual graphics. Cool, futuristic design. Fast (7,200-rpm) hard drive.
  • Must reboot to switch graphics processors. No TV tuner options. Below-average battery life.
  • The trademark Alienware design and a hybrid graphics solution are a big draw, but the Alienware Area-51 m5500 comes up short on Media Center features and battery life....
