The tablet positioning on this laptop is a lot more convenient than on a typical two-in-one,120Hz screen refresh rate,Good 1080p webcam
Stylus costs extra,Runs hot for very little power boost,Proprietary Surface Connect power adapter has a too-short cable,Fat screen bezels make the display look dated,Very limited upgradeability
Well-engineered – it's another keeper, Bright and accurate but reflective display, Interesting, flexible, hinged screen format, Thunderbolt 4 x 2 (and not much else), Great typists' keyboard and haptic feedback touchpad
No microSD slot (not an issue with Thunderbolt), Battery life won't be 18 hours – expect 10 or so in everyday use, Needs a TB3 or 4 dock at $500+ to expand its use
Stellar hardware design, Flexible screen positions, Gorgeous high resolution display with buttery smooth 120Hz refresh rate, Large haptic trackpad is a dream to use, Excellent Pen support
Midrange performance, Heavy and bulky to use as a tablet, Surface Pen not included, Limited port selection, Average webcam

What I referred to once as the Surface Laptop Book Studio around the office still feels true. This is the niche product that, counter-intuitively, tries to do it all. Microsoft has never shied away from asking for a premium price where Surfaces are concer...

Elegant hinge design, Great build quality, High-quality display
Does not include stylus, Expensive for the performance on offer, Hinge is not optimised for the best drawing/stylus angle
The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio exists in a space inhabited by the likes of the Acer ConceptD and some of Apple's more specialist gear, where aspects of the design are so carefully targeted, a lot of discussions about price have to be left at the door...

Engineered for digital creatives, MPP stylus compatible, Good screen,
Fairly heavy, You can get faster specs for the price

Classic Surface build quality and attention to detail,Good keyboard and touchpad,High-spec screen
Expensive,Hinge versatility could go even further,Power ceiling isn't that high for a professional device
The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio is an ambitious and unusual laptop. Microsoft's love affair with hinges continues to burn away. The standard take is this is a hybrid for designers and digital artists, but it doesn't actually let you hold the display f...
