Its a shame to have to minus points from this notebook because of the HD-DVD player, but its limited utility is unavoidable. Otherwise its a powerful and functional desktop replacement with plenty of media features.
Not a high resolution screen The Final Word The addition of an HD-DVD-ROM puts this new P200 in a whole new class, and the implementation of the latest Centrino platform gives it a touch more power and battery life, too.

The Toshiba Satellite P200 is a solid workhorse of a machine with plenty of processing power under the hood. While it suits as an all-purpose desktop replacement model, hardcore gamers will be left hamstrung by its average GPU.
Excellent performance, Bright, colourful screen, Solid construction
No digital outputs, Short battery life, A little stodgy looking compared to other gaming laptops, Lacking PCMCIA
If you want performance in a desktop replacement form factor then the Toshiba Satellite P200 is a good option, if not a particularly stylish one.

Toshibas Satellite P200-1EE (£649 inc. VAT) uses the same 17-inch case as the more expensive X200 range. As such, its quite a bulky machine, but it also has the build quality to shame more expensive laptops. Its one of the cheapest machines weve seen...
Abstract: There are no ugly ducklings in this Labs, but the Satellite P200-1EE looks particularly smart. Theres no shortage of connections, with six USB2 ports, FireWire and HDMI, and theres even room inside for a second hard disk if the relatively meagre 1...
