  • I think a great set of speakers should be measured by the amount of times that you run to the door when a doorbell rings in a movie, or when you try to answer your phone when it isn’t ringing this means that the speaker is doing what they were designed...

  • Abstract:  Depending on the brand and hardware design of your computer, its audio output can range from respectable to pathetic. And while this can be remedied by any decent off the shelf sub-$100 computer speaker system, Altec Lansing is asking you to think big...

  • Crisp and clear bass, Treble speakers with a tweeter for higher frequencies, Good control device
  • Unwanted static noise, Excessively large subwoofer, Somewhat expensive ($199.95 on Altec's website)

  • Wonderful and unique looks, Great sound quality, Control pod gives easy access to all controls as well as headphone/aux. in ports, Great build quality, the acrylic doesn't come off as "cheap looking" as some might think
  • Hissing got annoying when nothing was being played through the speakers, Lack of wireless remote
  • The Expressionist ULTRA is really a wonderful set of speakers from Altec Lansing. During this review, I had an opportunity to visit my local Best Buy and listen to these speakers on display against several other sets in the same price range. I found th...

  • Pleasant audio performance at moderate levels. Remote adjusts treble and bass levels. Aux input and headphone jack.
  • Woofers distort at high volumes. Subwoofer is very large, and isn't a good fit for tight spaces. Hard-wired cables. Remote is wired, awkward to operate.
  • Altec Lansing's Expressionist Ultra produces quality audio at moderate levels but suffers from distortion at high volumes....

  • Excellent Design. Beefy construction without looking like it’s beefy thanks to the interesting styling of the left and right channels; These speakers should last a long time, thanks to the high quality construction.
  • Would like to see a remote control on these; $149.84 seems a bit pricey
