  • Sharp and incredibly immersive VR, Head tracking is superior to Oculus Rift, Whole-room VR is impressive, Motion controllers work well
  • Expensive, Tricky setup, Uncomfortable to wear for long periods
  • The HTC Vive offers the best in-home VR experience yet, but it's too unwieldy to truly enjoy for extended play sessions. In this article: av, gaming, gear, htc, htcvive, MiniReview, review, video, virtualreality, vive, vr By Engadget staff @enga...

  • If you can afford the headset and the inevitable PC upgrade required, you won't regret buying an HTC Vive. Gaming – computing even – has changed forever...

  • Abstract:  For decades, we've been told that virtual reality would one day transport us to alien worlds where we could perform incredible feats we'd only dream of doing in the real world. We got a taste of that long-promised dream last month, with the release of Face...

  • Abstract:  When you strap on HTC's incredible new Vive virtual reality headset, you're transported into digital landscapes that you don't just watch. You walk through them, jump around them and reach out to grab them.Step 1 of the Vive's setup ought to read, “Buy a...

  • Abstract:  Virtual reality has always been an expensive hobby. Even in 1995, when the only VR option was the Nintendo Virtual Boy, it was hard to justify spending money on the device. It was uncomfortable to wear. It didnt have any good games. And it was a little a...

  • Not all virtual reality is created equal. While Oculus' Rift, Sony's PlayStation VR, and HTC's Vive all fall under the VR banner - not to mention Samsung's Gear VR, Google's Cardboard, and a host of other options - the actual experience can vary greatly.W...

  • Abstract:  For the past five days, I've spent nearly as much time in virtual reality as real reality. My calves ache and my neck is sore, but all in all I've had a pretty good time. I've been using the Vive, an ambitious new virtual reality system created by HTC and...

  • Incomparable experience, 6DoF controllers, Roomscale tracking, Comfort, Intuitive interface
  • Price, Bulky cable, Hard on neck and back, Potential tripping hazard
  • HTC's Vive provides an experience you can't get with any other product. It is expensive, but in our view that cost is justified...

  • Room-scale VR is incredible at enhancing experiences, Base stations accurately track an area up to 15ft x 15ft, Vive controllers borrow liberally from Steam Controller, with excellent results
  • Headset design not as comfortable as Oculus Rift, Needs lots of space to take full advantage. Space most people don't have, SteamVR, at least at launch, is unstable and crash-prone
  • Adam Patrick Murray Video games have been one long journey towards realism. First, it was more realistic 2D graphics. Then realistic 3D graphics, from the earliest days of ray-tracing (think Atari's Star Wars arcade game) to the PS1/N64 to the incr...
