  • Abstract:  The kingdom of Dotnia was once a happy, two-dimensional kingdom. That is, until the King decided that 2D was out of fashion, and declared that his realm would forever be rendered in 3D splendor. Things were wonderful until the Dark Bishop stole six m...

  • Wonderfully blends oldschool Zelda mechanics with a nextgen twist; visual style is eyecatching and the humor is genuinely funny.
  • Some gamers may not like how much it "borrows" from other titles; random slowdown in dungeons; some unbalanced gameplay.

  • Abstract:  There’s a fine line between “rip-off” and “homage.” On one side of the line, you have uninspired, lazily designed games that merely ape game mechanics, concepts, or visuals to cash in on the popularity of successful, original titles. On the other, th...

  • Unique graphics and visuals, customizable characters, can take snapshots of gameplay, nostalgic loading screens, clever dialogue, lots of insider-jokes, incredibly brief load times, affordable, interesting sword upgrading feature, mini-games, quite a few spells and accessories, retro music and intuitive controls.
  • Sometimes you’re not sure where to go next, may be too similar to older Zelda games for some and you’ll need to check the dungeon maps quite often for some temples.

  • It's hard to criticize 3D Dot Game Heroes for invoking Shigeru Miyamoto, widely recognized as gaming's most important figure, as its muse. 3D Dot Game Heroes offers a repackaged vintage gaming experience with obvious, but appropriate, improvements in g...

  • Abstract:  Is it weird that a game I had never played – and came out this year – had me drowning in pools of nostalgia? That’s exactly what happened when I first booted up 3D Dot Game Heroes, a game that seems scientifically optimised to transport you back to the...

  • Is 3D Dot Game Heroes nothing more than a self-referential retro title or is it a good exclusive to buy for a present gen console? This title will certainly appeal to younger gamers, as the game does look great and allows lots of creative interaction, but...

  • Abstract:  Some games sell themselves on excellent graphics… some on excellent gameplay… some on excellent storylines. 3D Dot Game Heroes eschews those well-trodden paths, and sells itself instead on “being retro”. It doesn’t take long to reveal its roots, prese...

  • 3D Dot Game Heroes may bring nothing new to gaming, but it brings a classic style of game to PS3. It’s fantastically warm-hearted and clearly made with real passion. The game itself has a few irritating issues, but all in all it’s great to see a game l...
