  • Abstract:  When Samba de Amigo first appeared on the Dreamcast eight years ago, it marked a new standard for exciting rhythm-based gameplay and expensive, game-specific peripherals ($79.99 for a pair of maracas!). How fitting, then, that in this golden age of mus...

  • Wii Remote and Nunchuk make decent maracas, Fun to shake it with a friend, Good songlist, Affordable, as rhythm games go.
  • Imprecise controls make difficult songs very frustrating, Not a lot of singleplayer appeal, Oversaturated backgrounds are a bit much, Lame minigames add nothing.
  • Some fun songs and unique gameplay help get Samba going, but imprecise controls and unreasonable difficulty bungle the beat. ...

  • Abstract:  This Wii remake of the well-loved maraca-shaking Dreamcast rhythm game Samba de Amigo is full of color and pizzazz, and the Carnaval theme's done justice by the crazy sombrero-wearing animals who dance around each confetti-littered stage. And while the...

  • The core gameplay is just as fun as it was on the Dreamcast; fairly large selection of songs.
  • Wii Remote controls are not always terribly accurate; lots of repeated songs from previous entries in the series.
  • With games like Alien Syndrome and NiGHTS making an appearance on the Wii, it seems like Nintendos machine has become the go-to system for Sega to resurrect its near-forgotten franchises. We can now add to that list Samba de Amigo, the maraca-based mu...

  • It's a classic, straightforward rhythmbased music game with an additional selection of songs and doesn't require a huge time investment to enjoy.
  • The inaccurate controls can cause a bit of frustration on some of the higher difficulty settings.

  • Abstract:  Bless SEGAs Dreamcast, perhaps the last of the revolutionaries. At the forefront of the consoles buccaneering boundaries was Samba de Amigo and, when the eponymous bug-eyed monkey with a perma-grin first shook his stuff back in 1999, the bundled mara...

  • Abstract:  Samba De Amigo can be a joyous game. You control a sombrero-wearing monkey shaking maracas to the beat of hip-swinging Latin songs (or kitsch pop novelties) while colourful festivities explode on screen. Unfortunately, when you are not giggling hyster...

  • The bright, crazy visuals and simple controls give the game instant party game appeal. There are more than 40 Latin-flavoured tunes to shake your booty to and more to buy online in the unlikely event you tire of those. The variety of mini-games will keep...
  • It only shines when played with friends and not all the mini-games work as well as they should – the piñata-bashing, for example, is let down by iffy controls.
  • Great fun with friends and enough variety to keep you coming back for more.Samba de Amigo is tagged with Samba de Amigo and Wii. Select a tag (Samba de Amigo, for example) to find everything on FiveFWD about the subject. User comments (6)Leave a commen...

  • Lets you shake your arms in your living room, fun with two players (sort of)
  • Repetitive, dull, short-lived
  • Repetitive tunes will dispel all but the hardened maracas fan ...

  • Abstract:  A shiny pair of bright red maracas were the first plastic instrument that found a place in my home. They sat proudly on the shelf in the early ’00s long before plastic drums and guitars brought the rhythm genre kicking and screaming to the masses years...
