  • Software issues can be fixed in time, and you can certainly get used to button positioning. That just leaves you with a fantastic handset for a great price...

  • The HTC Desire 816 is a fantastic device when compared to its price tag. It's one of the best handsets we've used in the mid-range, although it does have some stiff competition. The Nexus 5, although it's about 6 months old now, is still a better optio...

  • Fantastic audio, Well designed, Large screen
  • Not the best camera
  • Plenty of things should turn us off the Desire 816: it's made from plastic; the big screen has a low resolution; the camera is ordinary. But these seemingly mediocre parts add up to deliver an experience that is complete. The Desire 816 has character, and...

  • Big screen without a big price; Nice screen, even if it lacks a Full HD resolution; Excellent 4G speeds; Decent battery life;
  • Mediocre system performance has speed issues; Buttons are hard to reach for moist people, with controls at the top of the left edge; Screen won't switch on when swiped in similar ways at standby compared to the HTC One (M8); SIM card and microSD cover rea
  • HTC's attempt to make a budget phablet doesn't quite nail it, with a device that doesn't feel bad, but offers a performance that certainly doesn't match what you might expect out of it.At a little less than $400, the Desire 816 is a solid choice for anyon...

  • The HTC Desire 816's plastic body is well built. The brilliant 5.5-inch HD display has excellent viewing angles, and the quad-core processor runs smoothly, with hardly any lag
  • The glossy plastic rear is a fingerprint magnet, which is especially noticeable on the darker models. The lack of a removable battery is disappointing, given its relatively small capacity
  • The HTC Desire 816's combination of solid design and quality performance strikes all the right chords to make it a compelling phone for its price....

  • Feels nice and premium, Decent camera, Twin frontfacing speakers
  • Gloss means fingerprints on nonwhite versions, Sealed back means no battery access
  • It's hard to know just how good the performance of the Desire 816 will be without trying it with HTC's as-yet-unannounced Sense 6, but we're liking everything so far. The best news is that the build quality doesn't feel cheap despite the plastic back, an...

  • Robust build, decent HD screen
  • Processor could be faster, soso camera
  • It's a decent phone, but there's not a lot to distinguish the Desire 816. It's got a pretty good screen, but it's let down by the leisurely pace of its processor and a so-so camera. If you're after a phablet on a budget, it's worth considering, but you'...

  • Abstract:  The bezels round the screen are chunky, particularly at the top and bottom of the phone where you'll find the Desire 816's dual BoomSound speakers, but its smooth, glossy chassis and rounded corners make it very easy to hold. The Desire 816 is admittedly ...
