  • Abstract:  The awkwardly named yet highly competent K-x is another entry-level D-SLR from Pentax (www.pentaximaging.com) that combines impressive for-the-money 12.4-megapixel resolution with copious amounts of style. The K-x is available in your choice of whi...

  • User-friendly yet full-featured, ISO range expandable to ISO 12800 (otherwise ISO 6400), 1280-by-720 HD video,
  • No rechargeable battery, Plastic feel and basic control layout, No HDMI-out
  • The K-x is a beginner-friendly SLR featuring most of the latest must-haves (and a very good choice for anyone wanting video too) but the lack of a rechargeable battery is a pain. The camera is available in black, white, red and navy blue. ...

  • Small body, Good heft with batteries installed, Very good grip, Live view mode with 3 autofocus options, Faster maximum shutter speed than most at this price range (1/6,000), Fastest frame rate in its class, at 4.3 to 4.6 fps, HD (720p) movie mode, Exc...
  • No AF points in viewfinder, Image stabilization is only On or Off; doesn't have panning mode, Image stabilization indicator in viewfinder does not show amount of I.S. applied, May introduce image-doubling at around 1/100 second, but we didn't conc...
  • As I packed up my K-x review unit, I found myself in two minds as to whether I'd consider buying the camera myself. On the one hand, I could see it being a very useful second body to accompany my K-7 for low-light, high ISO shooting. On the flip side...

  • Very good noise profile; nice-size viewfinder for its class; relatively speedy
  • Doesn't display AF points in viewfinder, no HDMI connector, slow Live View autofocus, mediocre LCD, unreliable image stabilization
  • A fast, inexpensive dSLR with better-than-average low-light quality, the Pentax K-x nevertheless has some flaws, such as unreliable image stabilization, to watch out for. Read full review See all prices

  • When it was first announced, I wasn't terribly moved by the Pentax K-x. It seemed like just another entry-level digital SLR. After a survey of DCRP readers showed strong demand for a review of the K-x, I got my hands on one, and was quickly impressed...
