  • Image quality, Bokeh,
  • It feels like Tokina isn't trying as hard as they can despite this being a very good lens
  • One of my biggest criticisms of Tokina was their lack of weather sealed glass, but the new Tokina 50mm f1.4 Opera offers it and a number of other great things. Tokina and Hoya, who provide the literal glass in the lenses for most of the industry, are very...

  • Autofocus is neither rapid nor silent, Corner-sharpness could be better, No filter attachment thread
  • This second lens in the Opera line-up has a robust build and delivers very good image quality, but it's not a dramatic improvement over Tokina's older ATX 16-28mm f/2.8 Pro lens. The latest competing Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 Art and Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8 G2 zoo...

  • Classy finish and handling, Quiet internal focus, Constant f/2.8 aperture, Value for money
  • No front-fitting filters, 16-28mm, not 16-35mm
  • We haven't yet had a chance to test the Tokina's optical performance but we have been able to check out its build, handling and operation, and the Opera 16-28mm f/2.8 FF feels a real class act, and at a price well below that of own-brand alternatives...
