  • Notwithstanding its respectable age, the ReadyNAS Duo looks good among modern entry-level NASes. It features a high quality of manufacture, supports all popular network protocols, has a high speed of reading, and offers an exclusive X-RAID mode. It can...

  • Provides secure access via HTTP/S; allows you to hotadd or hotswap a drive for redundancy or more capacity without disturbing stored data; supports disk quotas
  • Pricey and comes with only one disk; adding second disk limits usable storage limited to capacity of single disk; convoluted setup wizard

  • Extensive administrative features; built-in BitTorrent client; lots of streaming options, good backup software; three USB ports
  • Expensive; adding second drive requires tools; administrative features will confuse most users; slow read/write speeds; photo-sharing software requires software download
  • Netgear bills the ReadyNAS Duo 500GB (RND2150) as a network-attached-storage device (NAS) for home users, but its advanced features and steep price make it better suited for a small business environment....

  • Abstract:  Netgear's acquisition last year of Infrant Technologies was an inspired move as it got it hands on some of the best desktop NAS appliances on the market and also gave the company's storage product range a much needed boost. However, although the ReadyNAS ...

  • Fast. X-RAID allows for easy hardware upgrades. One-button backup. Built-in media server, BitTorrent client.
  • Pricey compared with Buffalo LinkStation Pro Duo (LS-WTGL/R1). Just one drive by default. Advanced features require some know-how.
  • This scaled-down version of the business-friendly ReadyNAS NV+ is pricey. But it performs well and has plenty of power, flexibility, and features that should please home users....
