  • Abstract:  Over the years, somehow, reviewing a new Mario game has turned into one of the more difficult pieces I have to write. It isn't that I don't love playing the games—I do, I really do—it's just at some point it becomes a little hard to differentiate one ...

  • Abstract:  Nintendo is at again. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is yet another revival of the classic 2D Mario style. The game delivers great platforming gameplay, rich and colorful style, enjoyably quirky music, and a fresh new emphasis on coin collection. But when you st...

  • Abstract:  Some critics claim that Nintendo does nothing with its major franchises except create the same game over and over again. I am not one of those critics. As a huge platformer fan, I'm always impressed by the new twists that various entries in the Super M...

  • Excellent controls. Very good level design. Same Mario charm.
  • Uninspired. Squanders opportunities to make the game seem fresh. Coin gimmick doesn't add to the game
  • New Super Mario Bros. 2 is the same great Mario gameplay on the 3DS you've seen on the DS and Wii, but it doesn't try to do anything new besides shower you in worthless gold....

  • Abstract:  New Super Mario Bros. 2 feels like a case of Nintendo playing it safe with their core franchise, which does lead to the overall experience being a little bit disappointing. I’m not going to waste your time explaining what the game is about, as it follo...

  • Abstract:  New Super Mario Bros. 2, which was recently released for the Nintendo 3DS, is a brief, but inescapably accurate portrayal of everything that works and does not work with the 3DS. On the surface it’s YAMG (yet another Mario game) and it stays remarkabl...

  • Abstract:  Nintendo’s latest 2D side-scroller, New Super Mario Bros. 2, saw strong sales in Japan after launch and is on the cusp of worldwide release later this month. The franchise is no doubt a moneymaker for the Big N, and is poised to have similar success in...

  • Abstract:  With the exception of its gold aesthetic, most of the pre-release footage of New Super Mario Bros. 2 made the game seem like a retread of its DS precursor. To an extent, the sequel is just more of the same, but with a pervasive cleverness that makes th...
