  • Abstract:  Philips’ Ambilight dynamic backlighting technology has been around for a few years now, yet it still polarises opinion about whether it’s useful or not. At first glance it’s easy to dismiss as a marketing ploy (and no doubt it is that to...

  • Great price, Nice color response
  • Average contrast, Some motion artifacts
  • A new Philips TV, that too an ambilight! Its come at the right time, as Ive been getting plenty of enquiries about reasonably priced full-HD LCD TVs lately. Of course, Philips has always been a firm choice for the budget-conscious. The PFL7422 was qu...

  • Good picture quality, good design and build, Ambilight, Perfect Pixel, ClearLCD, DNM, USB connectivity
  • Contrast ratios could have been better, USB multimedia port does not support movies or videos, speakers lack power

  • Sharp and punchy pictures; future-proofed 1080p resolution; triple HDMIs; onboard JPEG/MP3 playback; unique Ambilight; attractive design; reasonably priced.
  • Black crush due to strong backlighting; moderately effective noise reduction; stain magnet.
  • This 100Hz Philips Ambilight is both easy on the eyes and feature-packed. That said, we felt it could have done a little better in picture quality.
