  • Abstract:  Thanks to an excellent, bright tuner-picture, sensible features, and relatively rich sound, the Philips is a great everyday TV. On the other hand, the low contrast ratio and lack of 24p-playback make..

  • Full HD display; Excellent picture quality; Superb video processing; Plentiful range of inputs; Direct HD picture mapping; USB input and computer networking for multimedia support (music, video, photos)
  • Black levels not up to plasma levels; Sometimes too much video processing, adding artificial sheen; No basic 1080p24 support
  • A networked TV with super computers? Perhaps thats what we need today. And perfect? Well, not quite. The Philips Cineos 42PFL9703 TV does, however, succeed in delivering the best picture quality from an LCD TV that Ive yet experienced. RRP: $3299.00 ...

  • Good picture quality, four HDMI inputs
  • High price, 100Hz mode flickers, not many legacy inputs
  • It has all the right specifications, but an imperfect 100Hz mode and a lack of inputs for older devices stop the 42PFL903D being an easy choice. ...

  • Decent picture quality, Good blacks and off-axis viewing, Great design, Four HDMI inputs
  • High price, Set-up wizard can make picture worse, 100Hz mode is poor, Minimum of non-HDMI inputs
  • We had high hopes for the Philips 42PFL9703D, but a poorly performing 100Hz mode and some set-up quirks means the TV isnt the Bravia killer we first thought. ...

  • A handsome, distinctive TV, superbly detailed images, superior sound
  • Byzantine setup process, seems pricey, even for this level of performance

  • Picture and sound quality; improved Ambilight; decent selection of inputs; attractive styling
  • Price; menus are a little ugly; remote control scroll wheel is a pain sometimes
  • This is the most impressive Philips TV we've seen for some time. The picture and sound quality are both excellent and the Ambilight is an improvement over the older two strip version. It does add to the movie experience, although perhaps not enough to...

  • Great design, Vibrant images, performance in all aspects good
  • Analog connection suffer in detail a bit
  • PerformanceThe first thing to be noted are the numerous options and element in the menu, which is only to be expected with such a high number of features. Calibrating this beast is not only fun, but also quite mentally engaging.First, the user preset w...
