  • Abstract:  Whatever else we might end up saying about the PS42Q97HDX, we certainly can't accuse it of not making a helluva first impression. For starters there are its extravagantly glamorous looks, which combine to uber-classy effect a high-gloss, minimalist and un...

  • While there are doubtless better widescreens, and some really tasty LCDs out there, the Samsung really does the business for its relatively modest price. I paid a reasonable €1200, but there are always deals to be had. Im personally not really that b...

  • Remarkably low price; gorgeous looks; connections galore; generally very good picture quality
  • Sporadic noise on standard definition pictures; no 1080p support; a couple of features actually reduce the image quality

  • Abstract:  More good news comes from the set's impressive suppression of most forms of video noise, even with standard definition sources, leaving as really our only complaint, given the Samsung's eye-catching £1,200 asking price, the fact that the Movie Plus setting can introduce some strange effects around moving objects. • Picture quality. Smart design. Connectivity. Incredible value
  • No 1080p, but everything else is as you’d want it
  • Apart from the lack of 1080p, the only real gripe is that the PS50Q97HDX is so good it’ll make some of your poorer quality DVDs look even worse. Buy one ...

  • Good all-round performance, Three HDMIs
  • No 1080p/24 support, Care needed with pictures
  • Samsungs PS42Q97HD is ahead of the game when it comes to connections, offering three HDMIs where most of its rivals can only manage two. These HDMIs come on top of standard features like a component video input, PC port, Scarts and digital tuner suppo...
