  • Abstract:  Projectors are ready to make a worthy competition to TVs with a screen diagonal of 55 “. They do not limit the viewer to one frame, but allow you to expand the picture almost to the entire wall. Top models, and all other things being equal, bypass TVs in...

  • Very good image quality, wonderful dark blacks and high contrast ratios, good color, easy to calibrate for an accurate image,
  • No 12V trigger or IP control for custom install situations, manual lens adjustment dials aren't as well designed as competitors,
  • The Sony VPL-HW45ES offers superb 1080p image quality for a dedicated home theater room. The contrast ratios are the best you can get for this price, and the image is very accurate before and after calibration. Sony knows exactly where to cut features tha...

  • Excellent color and detail, Bright, punchy picture, That price
  • Middling blacks and shadow detail
  • With all of today's hullabaloo about 4K and HDR, it's easy to forget that there's something special about a theater-like image on a big projection screen—even if it's plain vanilla, standard dynamic range, and 1080p. One look at the Sony VPL-HW45ES will r...

  • For $1999, in today's market the Sony VPL-HW45ES is a stand out performer for both dark room home theater and less formal home entertainment and video gaming in low to moderate ambient light. It's bright enough in its video optimized mode for up to a 120"...

  • Cinematic picture performance, Top notch detail processing, Superior motion handling, Relatively quiet
  • Too dim for media room use, Needs professional installation, Lack of a 12v trigger is irritating
  • This sensational Sony is a welcome update on a sumptuous 1080p projector design. If you're planning a dedicated cinema room, it's a blockbuster you won't want to miss…...

  • The Sony VPL-HW45ES is a top class Full HD projector that looks gloriously cinematic. Images are reassuringly dynamic and finely detailed, boasting gorgeous colour fidelity. It makes everything from Blu-ray and Netflix and Amazon Video look fabulous
  • Sony isn't taking any design chances here. It seems that this chassis will be the last Full HD UHP lamp model Sony offers, which means it's big and heavy. And while satisfyingly bright, you'll not want to watch it in a room with more than a modicum of amb
  • For serious home cinephiles, the VPL-HW45ES is a belting big-screen option. It's crisp and flattering to a wide variety of HD sources. Once partnered with a big multichannel sound system, you may never feel the need to visit your local multiplex again...

  • Crisp, detailed picture, Natural colour pallet, Easy to set up,
  • Nothing at this price,
  • Essentially, the Sony VPL-HW45ES is really, really good - if you want anything better you'll need much deeper pockets. At this price we could certainly recommend this Sony whether you're upgrading your home cinema setup or willing to invest an extra chunk...
