  • Excellent picture quality even in low light; built-in storage capacity; good range of manual controls.
  • Interface can be confusing; build quality not as good as some rivals; wind noise.
  • Panasonic’s HDC-HS300 is capable of extraordinary video quality and offer a good range of manual options, with manual lens ring controls that are as easy to use as they are capable. ...

  • High-quality video; solid performance; electronic viewfinder; full manual feature set.
  • Touch screen not responsive enough.
  • A very good prosumer HD camcorder, the Panasonic HDC-HS300 still isnt as good a deal as the similarly featured but flash-based TM300 and has the same annoying touch-screen interface.

  • Abstract:  The Panasonic HDC-HS300 (MSRP $1399.99) is a strong camcorder all around. Its array of manual controls, along with the inclusion of a sleek lens ring, should appeal to experienced users and traditional videographers. At the same time, the new iA touchs...

  • Good color quality, Manual zoom and focus, Records in 1080p, Light and portable, Great 24p options
  • Not quite prosumer, Small LCD screen, Few scene modes, Non-standard HDMI port, *
  • There are a few other options on the HDC-HS300 such as a luminance meter, aperture settings, and support for 5.1 surround sound. We doubt any serious filmmaker would consider this model for shooting an entire movie though, mostly because the video is just...

  • Abstract:  For its HF S10 – the HDC-S300’s closest rival – Canon embraced internal flash memory, but Panasonic opts for a hard drive for this model, with 120GB of storage, and space for expansion through an SDHC card slot. It differs from its rival in other areas...

  • When Panasonic released the HDC-SD100 and HS100, we loved the company's continued dedication to ‘prosumer' features. These camcorders were not dumbed down - in fact, they regained some of the functionality of MiniDV all-time-greats like the NV-GS400. But ...
