  • Image stabilsiation actually seems to work - and Canons solution is here implemented better than most weve seen - allowing for naturalistic, candid imagery
  • Non rechargeable AAs supplied, no optical viewfinder or separate EVF, four way controller is fiddly to operate
  • For its build and specification, the Canon appears very reasonably priced at a suggested £299, though we’ve found Internet prices that shave £100+ off that, making it something of a best buy for a fully featured camera that all the family can use...

  • So does the Canon PowerShot SX100 IS live up to its billing as a super zoom for all the family? OK, so it eats up batteries in a particularly greedy fashion and images can be noisy if you stray above ISO 400, but the build, the ease of use, the range ...

  • 10x optical zoom with optical image stabilization Ergonomic hand grip for better handling Excellent color accuracy Sharp resolution Good performance in low-light conditions Video Plenty of manual control Affordable price for a 10x camera
  • Very noisy at ISO 800 and 1600 Poor dynamic range above ISO 80 Slow burst rate Scene modes separated into a menu and mode dial Rotary control dial is too sensitive
  • The Canon PowerShot SX100 IS makes a solid impression. As the first in Canon’s new line, the SX100 IS performs well with its optical image stabilization and updated face detection. Even more, Canon earns major innovation points for the Face Select T...

  • First-rate photo quality; full set of manual exposure controls; optical image stabilization; electronic lens cover.
  • Too easy to accidentally click instead of scroll when navigating; no optical zoom in movie capture.
  • Though the Canon PowerShot SX100 produces excellent photos, other aspects of the camera--some performance issues and operational annoyances, to name two--dim its luster.
