  • Solid, user-friendly features, 18x image-stabilised optical zoom, Choice of two memory card formats
  • Noticeably plastic body construction, Non-rechargeable batteries, Travel of lens throughout range could be smoother
  • A family-friendly super zoom perfect for photographing school sports days and candid moments ...

  • The Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd sets itself up as a jack-of-all-trades device for a very reasonable price. On that claim it very nearly succeeds – though its not perfect. White balance is variable, theres some softness at maximum wide-angle and maximum...

  • Light, compact, long lens , IS
  • EVF quality, handling in manual modes, noisereduction system, aggressive image processing
  • I can’t say I’m a fan of this camera. I dislike the EVF intensely, and the handling in manual shooting modes is fiddly at best. Image quality is hit-and-miss, with poor high ISO images and some aggressive image sharpening. At lower ISOs images...

  • Shooting speed and responsiveness generally excellent, Consistent auto focus across the lens range, Reasonably flexible auto white balance, Huge zoom range; fast apertures throughout,
  • Slow flash recycle times, Continuous shooting speed not impressive, Highcontrast shots can look compressed, Some lens faults to watch out for,
  • As with the model it replaces, the S8100fd really does hit just about all of the right notes. Limitations of and problems with this camera show themselves to be minor as a rule: in terms of basic performance, the S8100fd is a solid package that's capa...

  • 18x zoom. Good overall image quality. Great body.
  • A bit noisy. Could really use a dial or wheel controller.
  • The Fujifilm S8100fd offers great image quality, a comfortably molded body and excellent manual controls. In future revisions, wed like to see a dial for controlling shutter and f-stop settings, and itd be nice if the camera were outfitted with a L...

  • Powerful zoom lens; image stabilisation; build quality; image quality; excellent low-light performance
  • Low-resolution viewfinder; fiddly controls; no zoom during movie recording
  • A pricey but impressive camera capable of turning difficult subjects into stunning photographs

  • Abstract:  Following on from last year's S8000fd, the new Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd features a 10MP sensor and a few new features, as well as the 18x optical zoom seen on the previous model. To counteract camera shake, especially at the telephoto end, the camera has ...

  • Reasonably priced. 18X zoom. Wide-angle lens. Super Macro mode.
  • Autofocus is slow, especially at maximum zoom. Flash shots are overexposed. Dual image stabilization creates blurry images. Noise is apparent in images above ISO 400.
  • The S8100fds price is in line with that of other superzoom models, but its image quality and features come up a bit short....
