Like: It looks and feels the goods.
Dislike: The 36X zoom lens is absurd. No human can hand hold a lens steady at 810mm, and even with the built in vibration reduction the hand held shots are blurred. To make matters worse there is image softness at both ends of the zoom range. Of the 120 t
Ridiculously long 36x optical zoom. Comes in a gorgeous cherry red version. Quick, responsive autofocus. Great LCD screen. Incredibly wide lens
No hotshoe. Short battery life. Electronic image stabilisation in video mode not effective. Patchy image quality at telephoto end. Poor video quality
The P500 will suit a photographer who values plenty of features, an electronic viewfinder and an incredibly long zoom rather than impeccable image quality....
22.5-810mm focal length is extremely versatile, Picture quality is good in bright light, Controls and ergonomics are impressive
High ISO performance is disappointing, Lens is soft at telephoto lengths and is poor at maximum zoom
Nikon's Coolpix P500 is a camera with a huge zoom lens -- its 36x zoom is one of the biggest we've seen on any stills camera. It's versatile thanks to this range, with a landscape-friendly 22.5mm wide angle and a stalkerish 810mm maximum zoom. We think it...

Abstract: The P500 is Nikon’s latest bridge camera, taking the place of last year’s P100. Although the newcomer doesn’t fall far from the tree in terms of appearance...
Hugely flexible zoom range, Articulated three inch screen, Zoom control on the lens barrel, Low noise at high sensitivities, High Speed and High Definition video, recording
Struggles to focus at maximum telephoto, Sharpness and contrast drops at telephoto end, Continuous shooting burst is over in under a second
All things considered, the range of features and excellent low noise at high sensitivities make this a camera worthy of consideration if you're in the market for a super-zoom compact or bridge style camera...
Good automated and manual controls; 36X zoom with 22.5mm wide-angle; High-speed movie and burst modes; Very good image quality; EVF and adjustable LCD
No RAW shooting; Stabilization struggles at full telephoto; Battery charges in camera; Slightly soft images
The Nikon Coolpix P500 offers a lot of features on top of its 36X optical zoom that will appeal to enthusiasts and snapshooters alike. The wide range of features means that anyone can pick up the camera and start shooting or, in the case of experienced ph...
