Abstract: The Nikon Coolpix S3000 ($149.95 list) is a point-and-shoot with a 12 megapixel CCD optical sensor and 27 millimeter, 4x zoom wide-angle lens. While it may be a downgrade from the touch-screen Coolpix S4000 (3 stars, $179.95 direct), this camera brings...
The Nikon Coolpix S3000 is a stylish but ultimately basic point-and shoot camera aimed primarily at snapshooters. It might lack the clever touchscreen interface or HD video of its bigger brother, the S4000, but it does crucially cost half the price. T...
To sum it up, the S3000 is a user-friendly entry-level camera. It’s ultra-compact, which means it can go with you anywhere. The downside of the Nikon S3000 is that it just isn’t up to snuff on image quality. Unfortunately, the S3000 appears to suffer...

Nice, stylish design, Simple controls and menus, Decent responsiveness
TN screen, low definition, Electronic noise, No mechanical stabilisation, Picture quality, VGA video mode with no zoom and mono sound
Apart from its design, the S3000 doesn't have a great deal going for it. Photo and video quality leave a lot to be desired, with disappointing management of electronic noise and a dynamic range that's too restricted....
Given that retailers like Amazon are currently selling this camera for as little as £79.98, the Nikon COOLPIX S3000 certainly fulfils its aim to be a chic, good quality and user-friendly introduction to compact digital photography, although video is be...
