  • Capacious storage. Protected storage. Low power consumption. Quiet. Easy to replace internal hard drives.
  • A little pricey on a dollar-per-GB basis. Install disc contains crapware. Capacity indicator requires software installation. Backup is data-oriented, not disaster-recovery-oriented. Additional, faster interfaces (eSATA, FireWire 800) would be nice.

  • File mirroring, Data encryption, Stylish design
  • Relatively slow read and write speed, Bulky, Lacks FireWire
  • The Western Digital My Book Mirror Edition is a compelling external storage drive solid for content hoarders. The drive will find a home with users who are more concerned with safeguarding data than lightning-fast transfer speeds, as the RAID configura...

  • Abstract:  Very few consumers understand the importance of redundant storage. What this means is that most people are woefully unprepared for a crash, something that not only happens all the time, but will happen eventually on any computer or piece of equipment. ...

  • Decent performance; low cost per gigabyte; supports RAID 0 and 1; user-replaceable hard drives; cool and quiet operation, three-year warranty; useful bundled backup software.
  • No FireWire or eSATA; bulky power adaptor; supports only Western Digital hard drives; hard drives cant be set up as separate volumes.
  • The Western Digital My Book Mirror Edition is a compelling choice for an external drive, delivering excellent value, good performance, and two hard drives for added data security. For anyone looking for an external USB 2.0 drive, the My Book Mirror bel...

  • Abstract:  The Mirror Edition’s speed test results indicate that enormous capacity has nothing to do with read and write speed for an external USB 2.0 storage device. This 2 TB managed to beat a 320 GB drive in read speed, but couldn’t surpass that same smaller ...
