  • The Gigabyte Z77X-UP4-TH is a solid and impressive motherboard in the enthusiast arena. It has surpassed some overclocking "records" on our test benches which we have not seen before with such a high Intel Core i7 overclock requiring such little vCore man...

  • Dual Thunderbolt ports, 82 Phase VRM, Ultra Durable 5, Lucid Virtu MVP, Up to Eight USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit LAN, Optional MSATA port, 3x PCIE x1 ports, Clean layout, 3D/Advanced UEFI, DDR3 2400(O.C.) Support
  • No WiFi features, Lack of extra SATA 6G ports/MSATA Port uses up one of the SATA 3G ports, Realtek ALC892 Audio codec performance misprinted on the board (108dB vs 95dB SNR)
  • There was probably only one thing on Gigabyte's mind when designing the GA-Z77X-UP4 TH and that is the future. They have completely replaced all USB 2.0 ports in the rear with USB 3.0 and they have not one but two Intel Thunderbolt ports in the rear, pr...

  • Abstract:  Besides two distinct peculiarities mentioned in the title of this article, both LGA 1155 mainboards on Intel Z77 Express chipset have a lot of other indisputable advantages. For example, a discrete Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card bundled with the top model of the two. However, both of them cause one unique inconvenience: both mainboards turned out very sensitive to the type of the power supply unit....

  • The Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH is targeted to the mainstream user who wants a motherboard with Thunderbolt ports. This motherboard also brings three PCI Express x16 3.0 slots, even though they don't work at x16 speed when more than one video card is installed...

  • At $184.99 we straight away notice the fact that our GIGABYTE Thunderbolt offering comes in $25 cheaper than the ASUS P8Z77-V Pro/Thunderbolt with its $30 rebate. Without that rebate we've got a $55 difference separating the two boards. And along with...

  • Higher level components should bring cooler running and longer life. Two Thunderbolt ports not only bring high bandwidth, but can add extra displays
  • You can get cheaper boards with more features. 8-pin power connector could be a little difficult to reach in small cases. "3D BIOS" still needs a bit of work for smooth and seamless operation
  • The UP series comes with an inbuilt question: are you happy to spend more money for the best quality components, or would you prefer to spring for boards that offer better bang for buck?...
