  • Sturdy and attractive design; Penyn-class Core 2 Duo processor; open DIMM slot should you want to add more memory; great keyboard and soft, quiet mouse buttons; can charge USB devices, even when off.
  • Meager allotment of memory holds back performance; glossy screen might put off some business users; brutally bad speakers.
  • Double down on the memory and the 13-inch Toshiba Satellite U400-S1001X becomes a well-rounded laptop that will withstand the rigors of business travel. Specifications: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo (2.1 GHz); RAM installed: 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM; Weight: 4.4 ...

  • Inexpensive. Bloatware-free configuration. "Penryn" chip a rarity at this price. Good battery life.
  • Unpleasant typing experience. Unit is largely preconfigured, with few options. Should have 2GB of RAM standard.
  • The Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-S1001X is a lightweight laptop that offers business-essential performance and a no-bloatware option....

  • Touchpad is not configurable, Much lower performance on XP model over Vista, Related Reviews, Toshiba Satellite U405 Review

  • Good portability, Sleep-and-Charge USB ports, plenty of connectivity
  • Short battery life
  • The U400 is a good size for travellers, has plenty of connectivity and good speed, and it’s also well priced, but its battery life is short. Notes # This product is no longer available directly from the manufacturer. It may be available in retail an...

  • Good overall performance, Large hard drive, Builtin webcam
  • Poor battery life, Spongy keyboard, Chunky build, Poorly positioned USB ports
  • The Satellite Pro U400 has a number of strong points, but the battery life, in particular, is disappointing. It could be a good choice if you need a compact notebook thatll spend most of its time on the desktop. But mobile professionals needing a lon
