  • Wonderfully fun characters mostly still look great, Varied level designs are visually charming
  • Some serious camera issues make basic tasks unreasonably troublesome, Unreliable controls can cause some real pain around bad geometry, Lack of checkpointing and progression issues can mean having to backtrack and replay levels multiple times

  • Faithful enough to the original that those FAQs you printed out 20 years ago still work, Some encounters changed to provide a proper challenge, Lost souls provide replayability for earlier levels, No more losing the lightning gauntlet when it runs out of
  • The Ghost Ship captain boss fight is more annoying with the addition of rain effects, Lack of hitstun and invincibility after getting hit often leads to some unavoidable deaths, Camera control still weak in some areas, hiding crucial jumps or spinning whe
  • MediEvil shows that it's possible to take a classic and completely remake the look from the ground up but still make it feel as it once did two decades ago...

  • The new MediEvil remaster stays faithful to the original, for both good and bad. Fans will enjoy seeing Sir Daniel's adventures come to life in full HD, but anyone looking for a brand new action/adventure/platformer might find the old-school PS1 controls...

  • Verdict: The philosophy of remaking MediEvil in 2019 without modernizing the platforming, boss fights, and save points ends up feeling like a project half finished. This tribute to an often-forgotten game and its memorable underdog protagonist is gorgeous...

  • Humerus humor, Fun weapons to wield, Incentive to explore every nook and cranny
  • Poor framing of fixed camera angles, Most weapons become obsolete too quickly, Bad platforming
  • MediEvil is, for better and worse, an original PlayStation game with a new coat of paint. It's a fun romp through imaginative levels with classical gameplay styles, and charmed my pants off with its humor while I struggled with the platforming and fixed c...

  • Abstract:  You may recall at the end of my Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy review, I had said, “hopefully, it might help bring other PSX classics back into the limelight such as Spyro the Dragon and hopefully MediEvil.” Well, it appears someone was listening to my w...
