  • The stylish Altec Lansing InAir 5000 streams immersive, consistent sound from iOS devices and iTunes over Apple's wireless AirPlay signal
  • If you aren't terribly picky about sound quality, for half the cash you can get a Bluetooth speaker with nearly the same aural reach
  • The Altec Lansing InAir 5000 produces well-balanced sound in an attractive package that will blow the roof off your room...if you can afford it.

  • Room rockin' volume and bass. Great midrange performance. Digital signal processing quashes distortion. Fast and nimble wireless music streaming. AUX port offers noniOS versatility in a pinch
  • Good sound at a notsogood price. Randomly dropped connections are instant partykillers. Aggressive signal processing at high volumes. No battery = stationary tunes. No iOS cable included

  • Abstract:  The inAir 5000 is an AirPlay-enabled Wi-Fi speaker, with two 1-inch tweeters, two 3-inch mid-ranges, and a 4-inch "subwoofer." In lieu of a port, it has a passive radiator. On the back you've got a USB input and Ethernet. The left side has 3.5mm input and...

  • Extremely powerful speaker system. Delivers deep bass without distortion. Simple, app-driven set up.
  • AirPlay drops signal. Uses signal processessing at top volumes to prevent bass distortion—not for audiophiles
  • Altec Lansing's inAir 5000 Wireless AirPlay Speaker offers powerful, distortion-free audio performance, but AirPlay itself still has some issues to work out....

  • Abstract:  So, if you love the punchy, sharp, clear, bassy, rather compressed, very American sound – I'm thinking Phil Spector wall-of-sound here – of this terrific-looking Altec AirPlay music player, the inAir 5000, it might be an idea to buy now. The price has plu...
