  • Abstract:  The Sony KDL-46EX500 is a lower range LCD with traditional CCFL backlighting that will yield a good stable value for most consumers who want to enjoy Sony functionality while not having to pay top dollar for early adapter features such as super...

  • Reproduced somewhat deep black levels; accurate color in bright areas; matte screen works well in bright lighting; solid picture adjustment options; streams video via USB
  • Dark areas tinged somewhat blue, benefits of 120Hz difficult to discern, some smoothing evident in 1080p/24 processing, fewer picture controls than some competitors
  • The Sony KDL-EX500 LCD TV incorporates respectable image quality with essential features at a wallet-friendly price.

  • The meat and potatoes TV for the rest of us. Great colors and highspeed motion performance. Ambient light sensor automatically adjusts brightness and contrast. Easy setup out of the box
  • Speakers lack oomph, bang, crash. Light on advanced features. Completely forgettable remote. 120Hz video processing can give standarddef video that dreaded soap opera look

  • Sony has one of the best online help and support services. The EX500 looks great and has good outofthebox picture,
  • Limited picture adjustments, blue tinting in dark areas and a thicker screen all bring this TV down.
  • If you don’t mind paying for the Sony name and are not too concerned with the picture quality or apps this TV will be just fine....

  • This TV has a 1080p resolution and will accept 24p sources via its HDMI inputs, Motionflow 120Hz technology effectively reduces motion blur and offers multiple settings to tailor the smoothing effect to your liking, LCDs can be very bright, which makes them a good choice for a brightly lit viewing environment, The TV has a solid amount of connection options and picture adjustments, The USB
  • The KDL46EX500 uses a traditional CCFL backlight, so its black level will likely not be as deep as you'll find in the better fullarray LEDbased LCDs with local dimming, LCD viewing angles are not as good as you'll find with a plasma TV, This TV lacks 3D capability, It does not support media streaming or Sony's BRAVIA Internet Video platform, for access to videoondemand, YouTube and other Web
  • The KDL-46EX500 has an MSRP of $1099.99, but it is available for less than $1,000, which makes it a good value for a 46-inch Sony TV. It doesn't offer all the benefits you get with higher-end Sony models--like LED lighting, a super-slim cabinet, and We...

  • Abstract:  All the excitement about 3D has rather distracted us from the fact that many viewers haven’t yet caught up with HD. There’s also another revolution going on, in Internet-enabled TV. Sony’s KDL-40EX503 ticks both boxes. As far as ma...

  • Unless it is important for you to experience the slender profile that comes with LED TVs, the KDL-32EX503 could be a perfect choice at this price level. Sony have created a well positioned screen with a decent feature set which performs well above aver...

  • Good black levels; Great internet features; Natural colours; Built-in Freeview HD tuner
  • Some slight motion blur
