  • You may not need a dedicated Media Player if you have something like a full featured PVR around which can handle most of these things as well. However, just this morning I wanted to listen to a few lectures on a USB stick and it was just easier to let ...

  • Audio/Video Quality, Exclusive A.C.Ryan GUI 2.0, HDD Included, Optical/Coaxial Audio Outputs, Card Reader, USB WiFi Adapter Support, A.C.Ryan Product Support
  • No HDMI Cable Included, No Button Illumination, Limited Image Quality Settings
  • The rather small PlayON!HD Essential is an very good media player with support for almost every known media file today and flawless 1080p playback, although i would like to see more image quality controls. True it seems to come with somewhat an...

  • No Ethernet support Wi-Fi is an added extra Squishy cheap remote control
  • The Playon!HD Essential has great codec support, but falls flat on the critical issue of streaming from network media sources....

  • Abstract:  Out of the box, this is a non-networked version of AC Ryan's PlayOn!HD media streamer, but you can add an optional £20 wi-fi dongle to change that. My sample came with a pre-installed 1TB HDD and there are 500GB and 2TB versions. The unit is designed to o...

  • Very nice graphics interface, SDHC card reader, Multimedia compatability, Displays miniatures of album covers, posters or photos
  • Interface too slow, Noisy fan, SD upscaling poor, Catalogue has bugs and is impractical
  • While the interface is nice to look at, it's impractical. It's a shame that the effort put into the aesthetic side is spoiled by the overall slowness and catalogue bugs....

  • Starting with build quality and design the Playon!HD Essential matches the same standards as previous A.C. Ryan devices and so feels solid with a nice finish across the top and sides. The front has a more reflective surface which looks great alongside...

  • BDISO & 3D movie files support, Easy installation of internal 3.5inch HDD, Responsive UI, Strong format support, Builtin WiFi
  • Big and bulky, Limited internet services and apps
  • Despite shedding some weight when compared to the A.C. Ryan Playon!HD2, the newer Playon!HD 3D is still relatively large when compared to the smaller Playon!HD2 Mini or Western Digital's WD TV Live. Of course you get to slide in a 3.5-inch internal hard d...
